- Take a deep breath, several times, for at least one full minute
- Stop what you are doing! Separate yourself from the situation for a moment
- Saying NO is okay…and is a complete sentence!
- Set boundaries with everyone in your life, and be consistent with the boundaries that you set (goes along with # 3)
- Exercise helps! Even if it is taking walks instead of driving
- Remove everything in your life that does not serve you (junk food, toxic relationships, excess, etc)
- Slowly decline or completely resist use of illicit drugs, alcohol, sex, or even the company of others as a way to feel better. The ‘good feeling’ is temporary honestly
- Take an extra 5 minutes when taking a shower/bath; preferably warm water. Use Epsom salts or essential oils
- Take a break from social media/technology. Trust me, you won’t miss much
- LAUGH! Find something or think of something that gives you a good chuckle
- IF you can afford to, go for a spa treatment (massages, manicures, pedicures, facials, etc)
- Sit quietly in a space that is designated as your own, at least for a full five minutes…without focusing on any thought or feeling
- Clean your space! Clutter can significantly affect your mental health…and your physical health
- Redecorate your space…change your scenery that brings you peace/happiness
- Make an appointment to meet with me (hint…smile)!
